  11. --- Leander Hard Disk Installer ---

  13. This installer requires the ORIGINAL disks from Leander (there are 3).
  14. It should NOT work for cracked versions.
  15.

  18. - Runs fully without floppies
  19. - Convenient installer script
  20. - Optionnal in-game HD load to save memory (activated by HDLOAD)
  21. - Quit option with HELP (sorry, F10 was used for pause) at anytime
  22. - HD save of the hi-scores
  23. - Now no more keyboards problems
  24. - Now no more bugs when entering the shop (read the IMPORTANT part)
  25. - Only PAL version is supported, but it can be installed with the NTSC version.

  27. A bug in V1.2 locked the computer on exit, and also the scores were not saved.
  28. This is now fixed (my OS swap routines improved :-) )

  31. The HD-Patched game will need about 1.5Mb of fast memory and 512K of chip memory.
  32. It should work on ALL Kickstarts and ALL CPUs (up to '060).
  33. Report me any bugs you'll find.

  35. Note: I created and tested this package with a A1200/060/50 16Mb, so there should
  36. be no problems for all 680x0 CPUs (caches,chipset...). It degrades display properly
  37. so Multiscan users won't have any sprite or screen problem.

  40. IMPORTANT:
  41.  
  42. For the users which used previous releases of this package, please install the game again,
  43. because a file on disk 3 was named the same as one on disk 1. I inverted the disks order
  44. in the install script, and now the proper file should remain (the one from disk1), and
  45. the shop part works fine (at last!!)

  50. INSTALLING THE GAME:
  51.  
  52. Just click on the Install-Leander icon. You need the commodore 'Installer'
  53. program to run the install script. It's not provided here.
  54. Then follow the instructions.
  55.  
  56. When the disks are copied during installation, the pointer freezes. That's
  57. normal cause the game uses a custom trackload routine (copy-protection), and
  58. it does not easily multitask.
  59. To abort installation during the custom disk loading, just press the left mouse
  60. button.
  61. The installer also checks that you inserted the correct disk. In case of problem
  62. during the installation (e.g you forget to swap disks), you can partially re-install
  63. the game by hand using my 'rippsyfiles' command. No need to specify the disk id if
  64. you're sure of the disk you've inserted.

  66. rippsyfiles 0 GAMES:Leander will rip the files of the disk DF0: into the directory
  67. specified.

  69. After that you just have to adjust the tooltypes and start the game by clicking on
  70. the LeanderHD icon or by typing LeanderHD <options> in a shell.

  72. OPTIONS:
  73.  
  74. I don't repeat them in every doc file I join to one of my installers. Read the doc
  75. I wrote to know the details. You'll find it on my http patch page.

  77. PAL: Forces the game tu run PAL mode. Useful when you have a NTSC amiga, useless otherwise,
  78. because the loader switches in 15KHz anyway.
  79. NTSC:Same thing for NTSC.
  80. TRAINER: activates trainer when there is one. Here it is infinite lives.
  81. QUIET: displays nothing and opens no window. No error messages, and no author message.
  82. DEBUG: useful only for bug reports. Makes a memory image on exit.
  83. LEAVEVBR: useful only for debugging purposes, and with a debugger such as Action-Replay,
  84.           HRTMon or ThrillKill. Don't select it unless you want to debug.
  85. NOCACHES: No need to use this here, as caches are disabled
  86. NOFAST: If you got crap sprites, this could help.

  88. *NEW*: HDLOAD: to save some memory, you can load from HD instead of caching all the files in RAM.
  89. NOOSSWAP: Disables HDLOAD and hi-scores saves

  117. This patch can be distributed freely, but I'd appreciate that you drop me a line
  118. if you include it in a coverdisk or PD collection.

  120. However, FFD (France Festival Distribution) is not allowed to include it in any
  121. of its PD disks (if you read usenet in fr.comp.sys.amiga, you'll know why).
  122. It's the only exception for the distribution.
